HELP!!! HP-75C flashing dashes and dots
Message #1 Posted by aam Morey on 22 Nov 2003, 12:06 p.m.

For some reason when I turned on my HP-75C today the display just flashed a series of dots and dashes and then it turned off. PLEASE help me with this problem. I just purchased the machine and it was working fine until today. The problem seems unexplainable to me. Thanks.

Adam,

Have you tried taking the battery pack(s) out and running it just on the AC adapter? The HP-75 can be powered that way without harm. If the batteries are dead (in spite of charging them), the unit may exhibit the behavior you have described, but should run OK with the batteries removed.

Hope it works for you.

Tom

No, the computer does the same exact thing when hooked up to the power supply. I also charged the batteries and it is doing the same thing.

Just a shot in the dark, as I don't know what's going on: disconnect the AC, take the batteries out, press the ATTN key once or twice, then reconnect to the AC (but without the batteries) and say some prayers or incantations when you try the ATTN again.

Best of luck, Adam. Can anyone else help?

Tom
