32E Error 9
Message #1 Posted by Ron on 13 Nov 2003, 1:25 a.m.

I have a 32E which seems to work well. However, when running the self test, it is inconsistent in the final display. Sometimes it shows all zeros, sometimes just a minus, sometimes it shows the full display for a fraction of a second before going back to the previous entry, etc... Often though (about every other time), it shows ERROR 9, and occasionally (rarely) ERROR 0.

After I finally got up the courage to POP it apart, I found that it is solderless. I cleaned all the chip and switch contacts, and reassembled. There has been no change.

Everything elso looks pretty good. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx.

Re: 32E; Check engine light

I have found out that ERROR 9 simply means it failed the self test. So this seems like the CHECK ENGINE light in my car; the only thing wrong with it that the check engine light is on. In this case, the calc seems to work fine; the only thing wrong with it is that it fails the self test. Anyway, for the sake of completeness, I still would like it to pass the test.
