Plagerized HP-85 ad? - ( Not exactly! )
Message #1 Posted by Mike on 14 Sept 2003, 8:58 a.m.

I have been contacted by some members of the forum, about an HP-85 auction that is running, that appears to be plagerized copy of one of my auctions.

I just wanted to let everyone to know that the seller purchased that item from me just about 10 days ago and had an emergency and had to resell it. He was too honerable to back out of the deal and didn't even want to let me know of the situation, when it occured. But he did explain what he was doing.

That auction is here:

My auction

I hope he gets what he is asking, as that is one of the nicest HP-85 that I have sold. It is virtually unmarked and has been 100% restored (belts and capstan). The inside was remarkably clean as if not used much.

I would also like to thank those that contacted me about the ad.

.... and this is an example of folks keeping a potential complaint private. It was also a good idea to use the fourm to maybe help a fellow HP user by vouching for his up-for-sale unit. Thats sour cheese indeed; he barely got time to play with it.

Mike, can you tell us where you got the new belts? I need a set and I need some other, different belts, too, and would like to know about a source.
