P41CV for PALM Devices
Message #1 Posted by Daniel Diggelmann on 23 May 2003, 5:24 p.m.

I just discovered this very interesting HP 41 Emulator for Palm Devices:

http://www.palmgear.com/software/answernew.cfm?sid=49F26072-53CE-464D-AA6BF6EBF78B2DBB&quicksearch2=p41cv&CFID=8931780&CFTOKEN=97339376

Programs written on the memo pad can be compiled. And there is an PORT manager which allows to try out different ROM combinations in the four ports. I like it very much. Until now I was using COCONUT for Palm. But the free version always cleared memory on exit. There never was a registered version.

Any one have experience with P41CV?

Happy Programming from Switzerland

I use this emulator daily - great program. The accessory Rom programs allows you to choose four modules from a list of 17 which include the Advantage and PPC modules. I think the Rom Program only comes with the registered version. I think the developer, Charles Lee, is considering updating it sometime for the CX.

There is another good emulator for Palm, called Coconut. It emulates a HP-41CX and works very good. I don't think it's available anymore. I just tried accessing his web site, and the page is no longer avalable. I know he had pulled is from the PalmGear site. Too bad since it is a very nice emulation.

The best part is that I always have my Sony Clie with me and thus I always have access to the 41!!

Just today I received an upgrade to the HP41CX. I'm totally amazed about this Emulator. It now supports time an XMEM functions. It can even print to the memo pad. Congratulations to Charles Lee

P41CV is nice, but it's sad it don't emulate the font of the HP41. If that was implemented, I'd love it. Otherwise it's really great. I'll have to try the CX version, now that it's out.

Coconut (yes, I have a registred version) is very nice in the look and feel, but it do have some bugs. I used to report them in the beginning, but it seems as if the product was terminated instead. Sad.

I'll have to correct myself. It was too long ago since I looked at P41CV. The font is now there. Looks great.

I'll have to do some more evaluation of it, but I think I'm changing from Coconut...

Hey! Thanks for posting that. That's one slick little emulator. Now I need a hi-res Palm.
