GOOD NEWS: first MLDL2000 prototype is working!
Message #1 Posted by Meindert Kuipers on 6 May 2003, 4:20 p.m.

Hello all,

Just 15 minutes ago my MLDL2000 first prototype saw its first custom ROM code with a CAT 2. This version only supports 8K of EPROM, and is currently loaded with 2 EPROMs (2732 and 2716 pair) of the -ML ROM, a rom with utilities I made for myself many years ago. These EPROMs were pulled out of an old ERAMCO MLDL.

This means that one big hurdle is taken: the electrical interface is proven to work, and my VHDL code proves the principle of being able to put all logic and registers in a single CPLD.

I have made some pictures of the breadboard prototype that I will post on my website within the next few days and make the schematics available. If all works well and copyrights permit then we will not have to chase those expensive ebay offerings for rare modules anymore ..

I will keep you posted!

Meindert
