HP-97
Message #1 Posted by Gary Hahn on 26 Mar 2003, 1:39 p.m.

I have an old HP-97 that I have used for many years.

It has recently started to do something that I am not able to address. When it has been turned off overnight and then switched on in the morning when I begin work, the display reverts to the scientific notation or engineering display from the normal display mode. Also, during normal operations, it will automatically revert to the scientific notation or engineering display without my doing anything.

Does anyone have a remedy for this condition? I use the normal display mode 100% of the time.

Your battery may need to be rebuilt or there may be some other problem causing noise in the internal power supply. Another problem may be some (usually invisible) contamination on the internal keyboard contacts that is causing bogus SCI keypresses.
