Batteries for 82120 Message #1 Posted by Renato on 20 Jan 2003, 9:30 p.m. I read a *ancient* post stating that in a 9V nicad battery, there are 6 1/2N cells. Can anyone confirm this information - just before I crack open a US$10,00 battery ?

I mean ALKALINE batteries. Once I oppened an already discharged 9Volts Ever(r)eady batt and I found 6 LR44-type cells, no brand. Four of them were stacked and the other two were lined with the stack. They perfectl;y fit in the 9V box. So, I bought a fresh, new 9V Eveready, externally the same type and oppened it. I found 6 thin batteries, one aside the other, as six sticks. I could not use them anywhere but in some experiences. Later, in another same Eveready-type, I found six bar-type, squared stacked cells. This one had no specific case for each cell, it was really a stack-type battery. Three different arrangement, three different cell types, same brand. I do not know about the rechargeable ones (is yours a NiCad or an NiMH?), but I am "almost" sure there will be six cells, serial connection, ~1.5 (or ~1.28) volts each. About size and shape, I have no guess. Success. And tell us about it, please!!! Cheers.

It is a stack of 7 rectangular flat cells - very nice packaging, cells are housed in transparent hard plastic. Looks like four of them, in two stacks of two cells will fit 82120. Capacity is 150mah.

Would you specify the GP 9V brand? Also, do you have an idea about how to locate the metal contacts inside the 82120A? The original ones are part of the rechargeable cells themselves. Not so good news Message #5 Posted by Renato on 21 Jan 2003, 4:24 p.m., in response to message #4 by Vieira, Luiz C. (Brazil) Oops. Donīt do this at home ! I separated two sets of two cells from the 9v battery - when I did this the cells came apart, exposing the chemicals - I know cadmium is dangerous. So end of story - I dropped cells at the battery disposal basket at the mall.
