HP 15C Quadratic Equation II
Message #1 Posted by jb on 18 Jan 2003, 2:36 p.m.

Sirs,

I have having a deuce of a problem getting the 15C Quadratic Equation II program to work (http://www.hpmuseum.org/software/15quad2.htm). I have tried reloading and rerunning it multiple times but must be doing something fundamentally wrong.

For the equation: x^2 – 3x – 10 = 0, x should equal 5, -2.

I put 1 on the stack and hit enter, -3 on the stack and hit enter, –10 on the stack and hit enter, then hit GSB 0, it gives an answer something like –1.67 and –3.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

Thank you.

If you press ENTER before the last number, then this is the stack:

T: 1

Z: -3

Y: -10

X: -10

and this is not wich the prg needs, and it should give error 0 in this case. Symply do: 1 enter -3 enter -10 GSB 0

Ho Ho! I knew it was something simple like that. Thank you for your quick response.
