Making new mini cassette tapes
Message #1 Posted by Mike on 2 Dec 2002, 10:48 a.m.

I have about 20 brand new mini cassette tapes (Fluke) that fit the 82161a drive. The problem is they are not HP and are a tiny bit too short.

That results in them not having enough tape to get through the initialization process. At least I assume that is why they fail? I get some sort of end of tape error at the end. They clearly run to the end and then fail.

What I was going to do was to measure one of my old HP tapes and try to lengthen these tapes by splicing a length from another tape. One tape should be enough to lengthen 5 or 6 tapes.

Anyone else ever try this?
