resurrecting a 32E -my oldest so far
Message #1 Posted by Christof (Davis, CA) on 2 Oct 2002, 12:14 a.m.

Well, I've found a 32E (serno 2116s34088) which I'm cleaning and getting ready for a new battery pack (2 AA nicads or ???)

I'm having some trouble with disassembly. I've got the two screws on the top end figured out, sure- but what sort of mechanism is holding the bottom part together?

And, what type of charger does this one take, anyway?

Hi,

series 30 disassembly is described here: http://www.hpmuseum.org/disasm.htm

The charger is the same for all Spice models: http://www.hpmuseum.org/batts/battery.htm

Just look inside the museum...

Raymond

Why bother with a battery pack...I have been given a 32E with a dead battery pack and I just replaced it with 2 AA size battery and a piece of aluminium sheet (to make contact at one side of the battery box). Easy and damn cheap. It works fine like this for 3 years now...
