HP-35 Charger Cord
Message #1 Posted by Albert L. Johnson on 6 Mar 2002, 2:42 p.m.

The molded 3-prong plug and the end of my HP-35 charger has some broken wires just before the cable enters into the molded plug.

Does anyone know if the plug can be repaired or not?

One method of fixing this problem is to carefully slice the top of the plug (along ridge line, just on top of the wires) off with a razor blade (be careful!). Next, you have to cut away (bore out) the plastic material to where the wires attach to the sockets. I usually cut out a small square region. Next resolder the broken wires and epoxy or tape the plastic top back on. If you do a good job, you can't easily tell that it was repaired.
