"HP Secret Summer" Rebate..........
Message #1 Posted by Abe Stein on 14 Sept 2001, 10:21 p.m.

Just got the $50 rebate in the mail today for purchasing a 48G+. There was a question as to if the rebate was valid. It worked for me - I ordered it Aug 7 which was a few days before the cut-off.

I'm still waiting for my $100 "secret" rebate on their DVD/CDRW drive.

I sincerely hope HP doesn't stick it to customers by denying these rebates.

The HP48G+ is an HP48GX without the expansion card connector on the PCB. i.e. 128K memory but no card slot function.

I received the $75 rebate for purchasing my HP48GX. It does not appear that HP intends to "stick it" to the people who requested the calculator rebates, so hopefully they will honor the DVD/CDRW drive rebate also.

I am still waiting for mine. The post office delivered the rebate documentation on September 4 (I used delivery confirmation at the Post Office). You can check on the status of your rebate at:

http://topsecret.hp-at-home.com/topSecret/coupons/status.html

Actually, the "Status" page never registers!

No one I have read about ever had a status reported on the rebate status page, including those who have already received their rebates.

I sometimes wonder about the computer systems of computer companies!

(And, no $100 rebate yet!)

Has this link disappeared? Did anyone ever get their status from this page when it was still working?

It always reported back "page not found" for me when I tried it. I had wondered if it was simply because it couldn't find *my* information in its database.

I know that "young america" got my information, because I sent it USPS Priority Mail with tracking...

I got my $100 CDRW/DVD top secret rebate the other day.

My information NEVER showed up on their online search. I think they don't update it at all.

So, give it another week or so and you may get the rebate...or you can call them to make sure they have your stuff.

These are the facts that make me think people at Hewlett-Packard constantly follow this forum...

I received my $75 rebate three days ago. (new HP-48GX, net cost was $65 after rebate and shipping).

Hooray!

I got my rebate, even with all of the tribulations of having to submit the papers from the first HP49G that I had to return, because it was defective, but had to do so to meet the deadline.

Apparently, the rebate center read my note, felt it was legitimate that the replacement hadn't reached me yet, and sent me the rebate anyway.

Anyway by now I have a new, working HP49G and the rebate! I'm happy!

Thanks HP!

-Mike
