HP-33E Parts
Message #1 Posted by R. Tumaghap on 2 Sept 2001, 10:51 p.m.

I am salvaging an HP-33E and I need that part from the battery contacts, the ribbon cable, and the small IC Board in the middle of the calculator as a unit (I don't know the name of these 3 parts as a unit nor their HP part number). The part(s) unit must be working and intact. Please e-mail me if you have one or where I could find it.

You may have to consider robbing from other 30 series calculators to widen your parts base ie. an Hp37e or something along those lines. (I mention a 37e since it is probably the cheapest and most common alternative.)

Good luck.

Just a short comment. AFAIK, the PSU board/flexiprint cable is the same on all HP3xE models, but the one for HP3xC models is different (it provides the standby supply to the RAM chips). So be careful which machine you raid for parts. In theory it's the same on old-construction (clamped) and new-construction (soldered) machines, but it's difficult to desolder the flexiprint in a new type of machine without damaging it. So you probably want to look for the old type of machine. Incidentally, what's weong with your existing unit? Unless it's totally missing, these units can often be repaired (I've done it), even if the flexiprint ribbon to the battery contacts is torn, for example.
