HP 41C or HP 41CV
Message #1 Posted by Paul Kuebler on 13 July 2001, 4:51 p.m.

My HP41C Serial Nr.2102A00080 has a memory size of 319 register without any memory module (like a HP41CV) but the case is a 41C. I bought the calculator january 1981. Know anybody what this calculator is? a HP41C or a HP41CV

Seems you are lucky.

According to the register count, you have a CV. Maybe someone replaced the 'C' PCB with a 'CV' one. Or someone replaced the 'CV' front label with a 'C' label. DId you pay for a 'C' or a 'CV'?

Did you ever send the machine to HP for repair?

It is also possible somene has installed a Quad Memory Module, or four Memory Modules inside the calculator case. These modifications are possible. The PPC Journal(s) describe how to do this. If you want I may be able to look up the article and copy it.

Drop me an email if desired.

I bought january 1981 orginal a HP41c with the descripted memory size from the HP center in austria. (I have the orginal bill). The calculator was never repaired and the print is orginal. The print has 5chips on the right side and 4chips on the left side and a original HP chip (ILE3 002 , DVD, 20436) in the middle.

It sounds like you've got an HP41CV board in a 41C case. The case is identical between the machines apart from the labels, so electrically that's fine. I assume there's no extra modules inside (some hackers soldered the PCB from a quad memory module inside an HP41C, effectively turning it into a 41CV). Assuming it works correctly, I'd just use the extra memory :-)
