Re: HP-15C Issue Message #3 Posted by Ex-PPC member on 11 July 2001, 4:46 a.m., in response to message #2 by J. Lopez
Apart from clearing flag 8, and just in case you didn't
know, you can always reset the machine to an all-clear,
default condition by turning it off, then pressing and
holding pressed the minus [-] key, then pressing the
[ON] key, and releasing both.
You'll get a message "Pr Error", which means that a
master clear has been successfully executed, and the
HP_15C will now be in a default, reset condition, which
means, among other things:
- all program memory cleared (no programs on it, all programs erased)
- all data registers cleared (0 stored in them)
- all matrices A to E dimensioned to 0x0 (i.e: they take no storage at all)
- all flags cleared (i.e.: out of complex mode)
- memory partitioned so that data registers 0 to 9,
.0 to .9, and the I registers are usable, the
rest being allocated as program memory (322 steps)
Knowing this master-clear procedure [ON] + [-] can
be very useful if you are in some state you don't know how
to get from, such as having memory partitioned with too
few or too many data registers/program steps.
Remember that you'll lose all the data/programs on
the calculator, though, so do it only if you don't have
anything on it worth saving.
