The Old Smack The HP 41C Trick Message #1 Posted by Jim L on 9 Feb 2001, 5:26 p.m. I've often noticed that when I find a new 41C and first install the batteries and turn it on that nothing happens. If I then smack it firmly but not too aggressively into the palm of my hand, it will very often spring to life. Is this a common experience? Is it understood or is it just strange luck?
