HP-97 printer noise
Message #1 Posted by Peter on 3 Nov 2000, 3:25 p.m.

I have recently acquired a HP 97 and am happy that the printer still works well. One thing though: the 97 printer head travels across the paper and on it's return to home mine makes a kind of a squeak/screech sort of sound.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be corrected in any way?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter, You might try applying a small amount of WD40 oil to the shaft the the print head slides on. Also the shaft that has a corkscrew thread on it. Also if there is a lot of dust in the printer, it is a good idea to blow it out. Another cause of this problem might be foreign debris in the motor gears.
