Pilots? Anyone? Let's rebuild a library! Message #1 Posted by bill duncan on 12 July 2000, 3:00 p.m.
I know there are better options for pilots these days than HP calculators, but I'm interested in knowing if there is anyone using HP's for flying anyway.
I've just submitted two short routines which may be used on almost any RPN HP. One is for calculating Heading and Ground speed, the other is for doing simple interpolations. Both routines may be found in the software library in the HP-29 section, although I've used them with the HP-41 and HP-15C (and even the HP-48).
I've also contributed what I called a time manager for the HP-41, but it may be used anywhere that requires you to track multiple times. It can track up to ten independent times. This might also be useful in a cockpit perhaps.
I think we've all been saddened by the news some time ago that the HP Users Library was lost to landfill forever. I'd like to encourage anyone who has ever written anything, no matter how small (see my latest routines for example), to dust them off and contribute them here for others to use. Now with the Net, none of these new contributions will ever be lost to landfill. Perhaps we can recapture some of those routines and programs and build a new library.
Thanks.
