HP 35 won't work on charger
Message #1 Posted by David on 8 July 1999, 11:41 p.m.

Hi, sorry to be posting so simple a question, but will an HP 35 with a dead or missing battery pack work while plugged into the charger? First impulses make me think it should, but I don't know whether the charging circuit powers the batteries which in turn power the calculator (requiring the batteries in order to function), or whether the charger powers the unit regardless of presence/absence of batteries. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't recommend it. The nicads will load the charger's output voltage. Without them it could rise too high. I believe that these early calculators are rather sensitive to overvoltage.
