HP97 Battery Pak Message #1 Posted by Sue on 8 Mar 1999, 5:08 p.m. Have a boss that still uses his HP97. He keeps it plugged into the converter/adapter and a battery pak in at all times. The calculator is working intermittently and he thinks he needs a new battery pak for it to work. Could it be wired directly and eliminate the battery pak? Thanks for any help.

Take the battery out and the machine doesnt work as the adapter cant supply the current requirements of the machine itself. My *guess* is that you should try first with rebuilt battery and proceed from there. To answer your question directly yes it is possible but involves tweaking the internals of the machine.
