I was hanging out with some fellow HHC'ers at the Colorado gig, and this subject came up. Jeff Quickfall took a couple of AA batteries and lightly rapped the tops against the bar, slightly depressing them. Inserted a folded chewing gum wrapper into my HP-34C, and those alkalines fit right in there. Viola! It worked perfectly.
