That's what I hope, too!

Perhaps, but then again, the 41CL is a VERY good alternative to a possible DM-41 IMO. :-)

I totally agree with that, and I am not really sitting and hoping for a DM-41 either.

I have managed to snatch up enough HP-41s to outlast me, so I am all set. One has been converted to a 41CL too.

While we are dreaming here, how about a 41CL in DM h/w, which I guess would make it a DM41CL. I mean if wishing, why not go for broke?

RE: DM42 News
Yeah, but my 41CL and my newly ordered DM42 may be good enough for me.

Maybe it will be here in time for Christmas? :-)

I hoping for a DM41P at the same price of CHF129 at which the existing DM41L is sold.

But I'm also intending to buy Hewlett Packard's super-top-secret new release of their own re-born HP42s to be released in the first quarter of 2018 for $129.95 (with free delivery) and manufactured in China under contract to Kinpo Electronics like several of HP's other calculator models.

If HP does come out with a new 42, I hope it is not buggy like the 15C Limited Edition is...

I heard that it will be a limited edition like the HP 15c LE, and that they will all be purchased by scalpers like Samson Cables, who will then resell them for $1000.00.

USB connection and 6MB RAM disk on board are quite useful though.

The myriad of bugging devices & spy cameras that were secretly installed at the HHC 2017 conference to counter the secret meetings held under the dome of silence about Hewlett Packard's new release of the HP42s has revealed that Hewlett Packard will be using Free42 to save on development costs & reduce the likelihood of quality control issues.

We were well aware of that. Therefore we silently moved to the Longhorn steakhouse next door. The secret new incarnation of the HP42SXL was carefully wrapped with a rather thick ribeye steak, to prevent spies from breaking the NDA. Some of the attendants were more addicted to the steak than to the calculator.

Let us for the sake of peace put it this way: The DM42 hardware begs to be used for other RPN purposes.

The die hard HP41 fans would surely line up for a factory-installed 41ish key layout if anybody is willing and capable to run such firmware on this new platform...

What do you mean?
As far as no RPL pollutes it, all is fine! ;)

SwissMicros is surely capable, willing... we will see: Michael confirmed this to me in a couple of occasions.

RE: DM42 News
Devotees of FOCAL seem to lead the pack so far in this discussion.
Anyway, we all agree it is really an interesting moment in SM's portfolio.
My guess is a DM42L seems now closer for the happiness of landscapers... and the horror of portraiturists.
Besides DM42L, SM's next model might be:
a new collector's delight with FOCAL on steroids (aka "nihil novum sub sole")
or a truly 21st century calc... newRPL?WP43? MicroPython? CAS? BLE? (aka "audaces fortuna iuvat")

These are the times we live in.
Ummmm, I was about to miss some Latin... like... say... "si bonam conscientiam haberes, non multum RPL timeres" ;0)

RE: DM42 News
Just so that we get terminology correctly, the “L” suffix in SM products stands for “large” and not “landscape” to differentiate the full sized products from the credit card size.
