New SwissMicros Firmware
Version 22 of the SwissMicros firmware is available. I don't see the changelog updated yet. Does anyone know what's new?

Could an owner of DM41 confirm that the issue of hanging the calculator has been fixed yet?
And BTW, how good is the keyboard of this calculator? Is click while keypress noticeable/audible? Is the keyboard as good as in HP41c or HP42s ?

RE: New SwissMicros Firmware - Oh oh!
I don't know what's going on but the SwissMicros website now has version 21 again. Maybe there was a problem with 22.

As others noted, I think it is related to the keyboard hangs reported in other threads. At least, I (beta-)tested a V22 release days ago just aimed to fix such issue.

They are still available thru the See all files link.

Incidentally, I think that this may be not the correct sub forum for this thread, better in the" Not quite HP Calculators - but related" one.

AFAIK, all DM machines suffer from this very same issue (no matter if they are DM1x or DM4x, all they share the same HW), and both big and small models show it. I've tested the DM15 software and seems fixed. Such part of the SW is (AFAIK again) common for all such devices, so I assume that the issue is fixed in all devices now, but I do not have tested the DM41.

The keypresses for the big models (I do not have any small one) are definitely noticeable & audible. I do not know if it is better or worse than that in the original HP machines, but they are definitely comparable. I feel the DM15 keys (thus, all DM1x & DM41 keys) slightly tighter than those on a hp41, but, perhaps, those on my hp machines are, in some way, fatigued. In any case, I feel the DM1x/41 keyboard a charm to use and according to the oldest traditions.

If this helps, after this firmware release, I'll buy another DM15 in the near future, a decision I postponed when I noticed they keyboard hang issue.

Regards.

The v22 files were pulled from the ftp site as well; they were there for about a day. I always grab files when released, but hold off updating until less patient (or braver) folks install it to test.

I salute SM for pulling the files promptly (assuming they've found an error) to prevent spread of bad code.

Once fixed and released, please label it v23 (or later) to avoid confusion.

RE: New SwissMicros Firmware
Does anyone know if the pse and catalog 4 thru 6 have been slowed down and whether we have full extended memory capabilities in the new version for th 41?

I use the 41 large version at work and love the key response and functions. Miss the printer though, looking forward to the 42 version.

Cheers, Geoff

I hope he has a decent range on the printer IR. With my 50g, the calculator and printer have to be almost touching in order to print error-free!

Version 22 doesn't increase the amount of memory accessed. Sad

RE: New SwissMicros Firmware
I just got around to flashing V21 onto my DM15. I have run V16 since purchase and I always had a problem with my '5' key, which was slightly unresponsive. It required follow-through pressure, after the click, to make it fire. I always assumed that this was due to a bad click dome but it must have been a timing issue. With V21 firmware installed, I now can't make it not fire - if it clicks it generates a 5 character, no matter how marginal the actuating pressure I use. I am very pleased with the improvement.

Has anybody experienced similar problems with the older firmware versions?

RE: New SwissMicros Firmware
The V22 FW is newly online.

These new V22 files seem different to those accessible days ago. At least, the DM15 files are different.

Guess the folks at SM didn't see the request to not re-use V22. Sigh...

Well, I guess it will be their support issue to sort out.

Cust: It's not working the way you said it would
SM: What version f/w are you using?
Cust: V22
SM: Are you sure it's V22?
----- snip (long frustrating discussion removed) -------
SM: Oh... that V22 is not the correct V22, it had bugs. Please re-flash with the new V22.
Cust: You mean flash it again with the same version?
etc...

These things are really not that complicated. Are they?

I fully agree with you Robert, very unfortunate.

The second 2 in this v22 is a bit longer. You just can't hear it in print.

It tastes different, too. Not quite as crunchy.
