RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
The top list contains this entry:
  • Academic Press/John Holland ~ "General Application Programs" or "HP 48 Application Programs" ~ ~ For "symbolic and complex computation", might be companion to MATHLIB

I have found some pictures and looking for all the instructions and the associated software. The programs were included as a ROM card or as a floppy disk. I am willing to give money for it.

The book "HP 48SX Engineering Mathematics Library" with it MATHLIB-ROM-Card is already on my Bookshelf.

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Hello,
i've found another source of cards from Italy. The company name was 'Più Impresa'.
they were the official hp calculator dealer at that time. I just have one card:

But their catalogue (1994) mention also:
- 00048-003128 Civil engineering vol 1
- 00048-016032 Civil engineering vol 3
- 00048-007128 Civil engineering vol 4
- 00048-018032 Thermal insulation
- 00048-015032 Electronic engineering vol 1
- 00048-003032 Spider (electronics)
- 00048-009128 Math - statistic and utilities
- 00048-014128 Ricerca operativa
- 00048-013128 Calculus vol 1
- 00048-012032 topography vol 1 (surveyor)
- 00048-19128 Mathematical formulas

Then there are some info about the forthcoming cards (without code). i am not sure these ones have been released or not…
- topography vol 2
- Astronomy
- Civil engineering vol 2

i hope it helps,

Giancarlo

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Together with my HP-48GX came a 128 KB RAM card from M. Kemper in Aachen / Germany.
There still is a tech guy around Aachen called Michael Kemper (Miketech). Don't know he was the manufacturer.

AFAIK it's the same Michael Kemper.
Back then he also did the upgrades of HP 48G/+/X calcs for Dynatech.
I once bought a new HP 48G+ with RAM expanded to 1280k from Dynatech,
which actually was done by Michael Kemper.

As said HP48G+ calculator that Raymond originally purchased is now in my possession, it is good to know who performed the modifications.

Thanks,

Michael

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
I have the Sparcom Electronics Engineering and the Physics and the Maths packs.... and also the books that came with them.

But they are now useless to me as the displays on the calculators have turned black

And the cards will not work with 50G ....... which is my only remaining pride and joy Smile

I was looking at this list of HP 48 cards. I have the HP 48SX Engineering Mathematics Library book along with the card. Is the "Math Library General Application Programs" a separate book/card ?

Also, I did not know there was a 16C Emulator card for the 48. Was this a commercially available card?

The HP-16C emulator for the 48 was written by Jake Schwartz and Rick Grevelle, and can be found here:

I would LOVE to have one of the original manuals, if anyone has one available for trade or sale, please contact me.

Here's a short history - There was a time around 1993 (just after the 48G/GX came out) when HP was considering adding this to their arsenal of HP48 cards. We had been communicating with Dennis York at the time and he was about to order 50 copies of the card and 50 printed manuals for review purposes, and I was on the verge of having additional manuals printed. We also did early work on a new version of the software with a keyboard arrangement more in sync with the G series and a new keyboard overlay was being designed. However right around that same time, there was a major shakeup in Corvallis and the calculator group was shifted under management in Singapore. (An early result of that change produced the 38G in 1995, which had a split development team in Singapore and the U.S. I am sure Jim Donnelly and Diana Byrne have a few stories regarding that experience.) Around the time the HP deal fell through, sales remained very low, so the decision was made to switch the paper documentation to files on a CD-ROM disk. For what it is worth, the product was also being sold by EduCALC and it appeared in catalogs 59 through 64, before they gave up on it. In any case, the new software development was abandoned and a new overlay was never made (since the cost of manufacture was rather high). There are still copies of the original overlay, since we originally had a couple hundred made.

Jake
