New HP 12C is solid
Not sure if something has changed in HP China's quality control but I thought I'd mention I just purchased a new 12c from Bestbuy and the quality appears to be solid. The keyboard is tight, no rattling, and everything else looks great. Four years ago I bought a new 12c just to see how the QC was and the keyboard rattled like a babies rattle. This one is good to go. Of course I love my vintage 12c's and this one will never replace those.

RE: New HP 12C is solid
I was just in Office Depot today and noticed the 12c. It is a beautiful calculator and is probably HP's biggest seller over the years. They definitely got that one right. A simple programming model and fast processor, and reliability second to none.

Get 'em while you can, that level of quality does not exist anymore.

So is there a new revision? If so what serial numbers or product codes will I have to look out for?

IIRC the SoC used has or had to be replaced as it went out of production. If so, maybe the whole design or production process has changed, too.

So, where's the new regular 15C model? Big Grin

Whats IIRC and SoC? You mean the miroprocessor that was used for 20b, 30b, 12c, and 15C LE?

I really hope so!

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.
SoC = System On a Chip. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_on_a_chip

RE: New HP 12C is solid
I got it on October 2016 from Amazon for $55

Lucky that I got the latest version that use the Atmel 30 MHz CPU made in China and it use two batteries with CNA.... serial number.

This newest edition sometime call the HP 12C+ because of it compute speed.
All calculation is very fast it rarely take more than 2 second to give answer.

One more question: Could it be flashed...?

Come on, isn't it sufficient for a calculator to be a 15C?

Oh, @Mike - I think the rattle was lost when the keys grew together. At least, they did on the 15C LE, but can't check as I have no 12C (in any version). Someone else?

RE: New HP 12C is solid
I am not a marketing guy, but the demand for the 15c nowadays seems to me that might be high enough to go for a revival. Cost sharing with the 12c sounds too good to let those prospect sales fly away towards the competition. I wish we would finally see that wonder back again... someday soon.
