TOS
The other day another forum member asked me, via PM, about the meaning of "TOS" here. I replied him citing another well known HP calculators related website.

Amazingly, and unacceptably, my private message was censored and the URL replaced by asterisks.

I've reread this site rules and found that they state "Although this forum does not and cannot review the messages posted", which seems not to be true.

I understand that this is a private site and that its owners/admins do what they want, but censoring private messages is, at least, ethically objectionable. And doing it to prevent access to a competing site is simply childish.

Regards.

RE: TOS
Well, don't know the reason for this kind of malfunction. But you might consider sending the information again. Just make sure to use a "childish" way of encryption, e.g. ROT13 or ROT47.

RE: TOS
I wouldn't assume anything sinister there. My guess would be that it is an automated anti-spam measure. Dave would be the best person to answer that, though even he might not be aware of it. If you would like to send me a PM with a random URL in it I'll let you know what happens.

R.

http://www.google.de <-- this is the german google homepage
http://www.slashdot.org <-- this is slashdot
http://www.ebay.de <-- this is TAS
www.***** <-- this is TOS

RE: TOS
This is a forum feature that Massimo tested years ago: http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-42-...l#pid10082

To fool the system, send the URL as "w w w . h p ...".

Please move this thread to Forum Issues and Administration.

Dave

Edit: Emphasis added.

Thank you Dave; I do have attentive readers indeed! ;)

Yes, I think the same filter is working both on forums and PMs.
