Strange HP41CX
First of al, I'm no calculator collector at al.

But I got hold on this strange HP41CX calculator, and I'm trying to find information about.
Until know I didn't find much. So maybe some of you can help.

Here are some pictures:

It is a Zengrange rugged 41CX, used by british artillery.
See here for a little more info (AFDC paragraph).

Seems to be some kind of "enviromental" overlay for surveyors (according to the markings). There was an "official" HP protective overlay, that could be easily removed, but this one may be permanently bonded... does it allow the use of Alphe, user and program buttons? Some HP41's were sold with a fixed overlays and fixed ROM packs, that were intended to only be used for a specific task.

RE: Strange HP41CX
Now I understand why there is such a rugged hard case by this calculator; it was used by military.

Soon I will get batteries, then I can see if it still powers up.

So far many thanks for the information.

RE: Strange HP41CX
To be honest, now I have 2 HP calculators.

The second one is a 21, which a bought new long long ago when I went to school. This one is really used a lot and in a terrible condition but still working

I collect vintage GPS and by one of my last acquisitions I got this strange 41 in the box too. I have no use for it, whit this strange keyboard layout, if it had the normal keyboard layout it could replace my 21.

So now I start looking for a normal 41 ;-)

I have a nice, clean, normal 41CV which you may be interested in. And I could take that odd, ugly one with the strange keyboard off your hands in exchange, assuming it works. Wink

Kidding of course. Unless you are really interested, then not kidding....

RE: Strange HP41CX
Calculator is working. Can do some basic since I'm used to my old HP21.
Can't perform any special things since I have no manual.
Clock is working too.

But should there not be 6 catalogs available ? Mine has only three.
Catalog 1 has only 1 program: "end reg 219", I supose this is special from Zengrange.

I think I will sell this 41.
