WP34S problem after update
Hi,

I've updated my Wp34S , but after the flashing procedure it seems died: I can't turn it on and it shows a blank screen .
I replaced batteries and tried several times but with the same result.
It's not the first time that I update it and until now I haven't had any problem in the past.
I use the original cable connected to a RS232 port of a PC under Win XP and
MySamba doesn't show any comunication error. Can anyone help me ?

Thanks in advance.

Alessandro

The blank screen doesn't tell you too much. The device may be broken or just waiting for a flash update. If you reset it and turn it on afterwards and it responds to MySamba, then it was in the boot loader. If not, you should be able to force it into this mode by pressing ERASE on the cable and ON on the keyboard at the same time.

A possible cause of failure might be the wrong flash image. The _xtal and _ir images only work on a modified unit that has a working quartz crystal. The switch to the crystal oscillator is done very early in the startup process before the display is initialized. If the oscillator does not come up correctly, the device hangs.

If you have a crystal you can still flash the default image and try the ON+D, ON+C+C sequence as a test if it is working properly.

RE: WP34S problem after update
Hi,

I haven't crystal installed but I'm sure that the flash image is correct; I have tried with calc.bin and full_calc.bin with the same result.
Calculator seems responding to MySamba: at the end of the procedure I get the message that files was succesfully sent in about 3 seconds but after that I can't turn it on.

3 seconds is way too short. It's more about 15 seconds. So there must be a problem with either your image (what is its size?) or your MySamba installation.

RE: WP34S problem after update
Correct file transmission takes some 23 seconds for the 34S calc_full.bin.

I think you have an incomplete image, try re-downloading it
