Rear sticker for 34S?
As I was preparing for HHC I grabbed my 34S. Pulling it out of the case, I noticed that it still had my name tag from last years conference stuck to the back. I put it there when submitting my programming contest entry so Gene would know whose it was.

The sticker got me wondering if a more useful sticker could go there. The battery cover has a large flat space. The 41C has the alpha keyboard printed on the back instead of cluttering up the front. Maybe that would be helpful. The 12C has simple examples on the back (at least my old one does).

I really don't have any idea what might be good. Maybe lists of some of the menu commands? Any ideas?

Dave

RE: Rear sticker for 34S?
The owner's manual (FW v3.3) suggests on page 368 attaching the virtual alpha keyboard to the back of WP34s ("cut out the picture at left ...").

Ah yes, that's what printed manuals are good for...

Walter, please, how about this one single picture in electronic
form? With or without copyright notice... .-)

The electronic form (PDF) of the manual, and other documentation, already come with the WP-34s distribution, or can be retrieved from SourceForge.

The electronic version you mentioned ist version 3.1 and has "only" 211 pages.
The printed version (see here http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-1859.html) is newer than the electronic version.

Hm, there is a 226 page PDF that says "Edition 3.2". Page 67 shows two pictures of the virtual Alpha keyboard (one larger, one sized to fit the 34s) and suggests:

Quote:If you print this virtual keyboard in the size given below, you can attach it to the back of your WP 34S for ready reference. This will serve you well also for learning the Greek letters and their relation to their Latin homophonic siblings.

Are there any changes from v. 3.1 to 3.2 resp. 3.2 to 3.3 regarding the Alpha keyboard that would make this picture from the 3.2 manual useless?

Hello Dieter,
where did you find the PDF Edition 3.2 ? Is it in the sourceforge repository?
Thanks, Thomas

I'm not sure, but IIRC this version used to be available on Sourceforge, before it was eventually replaced by the older version 3.1. There was a discussion in the old forum on this topic.

But even the 3.1 manual has a picture of the virtual Alpha keyboard, cf. page 63. However, I did not compare it with the one included in the 3.2 manual. #-)

RE: Rear sticker for 34S?
The picture printed on p. 63 of the manual v3.1 is identical with the ones printed in the newer editions.

The scales fall from my eyes! I guess ... I guess I didn't realize that 3.1 ≠ 3.2 ≠ 3.3?

I already requested a printed 34s manual, but thought it was a nice spiral-bound edition of what I've already had. This is an exciting development!

I didn't know you've got such an expression in English, too. Smile

Wonderful and thank you!

Don't let this keep you from eventually relenting your copyright wrath and contemplating the re-lease of an up-to-date pdf to this august community...

You're welcome. Though I don't understand why you talk about a wrath where working men defend their rights?

Absolutely, as you should know. I keep proposing an up to date pdf version of the manual, because I deem it vital for the project as a whole. And I agree that it is your free choice not to sell such a pdf version.

I have considered this picture to make a rear sticker for my 34S, however once printed I've found that the alpha and Greek letters are too small for my eyes so I've not moved further to print a real vinyl sticker.
