$$x+\dfrac{x}{x+\dfrac{x}{x+\dfrac{x}{x}}}$$ = $$x+\cfrac{x}{x+\cfrac{x}{x+\cfrac{x}{x}}}$$

The left expressions uses only dfrac. The right expression uses only cfrac. The only difference in the result is the vertical spacing.
