Writing HP41 Programmes on PC & Conversion to .RAW
Hi everyone,

A few days ago I received my SwissMicros DM41X & have started to learn about how to transfer modules & programmes to it's FAT disc.

Since I have some large programmes I developed for the HP41C in the 1980s, I'd prefer to re-write them again on a PC (instead of using the caculator's keyboard) convert them to .RAW format & install them that way on the DM41X.

I remember using the HP41UC & Win41UC utilities in the past to convert files to the correct format, but since my PCs are all running Windows 10 now, I wonder if there are some more suitable tools that any of you would recommend?

Thanks,

Michael

And if that doesn't work in Windows 10 you can always run it in DOSBox.

This Version works perfekt with Windows 10. I was in a similar situation. I entered my old HP41CV programs in Notepad ++ on the PC and converted them to RAW with the current version of HP41UC. The RAWs work on the DM41X, V41 and go41cx without problems.

Or, better yet, in VDosPlus or DOSBox-X.

RE: Writing HP41 Programmes on PC & Conversion to .RAW
Thanks everyone for your prompt suggestions.

Haven't had much time this week to fully sort it out, but I did try running the latest version of the HP41UC utility without success. Doesn't seem to do anything when I double click on the icon so I then tried running in compatibility mode for XP (since notes indicate it was designed to run with Windows XP or later versions). Under compatibility mode, it tries to launch the utility which seems to momentarily flash-up but then disappears. Also tried other compatibility options with similar results. I am running Windows 10 x 64bit.

Didier - how did you get it to run under Windows 10?

Have also downloaded & installed DOSBox but haven't tried to run the utility under DOS yet.

Cheers,

Michael

HP41UC is a command line tool so you need to run it from a command shell, or use a batch file. For example, copy hp41uc.exe in the directory where you have your text file(s) to convert to raw, then open a PowerShell with [Shift]+right click and in the PowerShell window type .\hp41uc /t to see the TXT Format - Compiler help.

Thanks Didier & that explains why it wasn't working :-(.

Have any of you tried installing Win41uc via: http://www.ulisse.bs.it/museo/hp41/tutorial.htm ? I now recollect this provided a more user friendly GUI for HP41uc. Also, Leo Duran refers to it in his HP41uc user instructions.

Just tried to install Win41uc 64 & 32 bit versions downloaded from the above site but it aborts part way through the install.

Cheers,

Michael

Last time I tried to install Win41uc it didn't work, it was a few years ago.

I downloaded using the source forge site -> on thread #4 above, it downloads OK & installs good working software from the ZIP. HP41UC-Win32App_x86.zip.
