Parting out a nice (but broken) HP-97 plus accessories, and some HP 32 things
It appears that the keyboard IC is dead on my HP-97. The keys on the side with the numbers do not function. The keys on the other side do.

It's got a good display (possibly spoken for already), printer (rollers repaired), card reader (repaired)(sold), housing, keyboard (aside from the logic board components).

It has a perfect condition original soft case.

It also has a brand new battery, and an external charger.

The wall wart does appear to work, but there was a break in the middle of the wire. This portion was cut out and there is continuity for a substantial portion of the original length, and it can be soldered back in place.

I also have several program packs (Basic, Mechanical Engineering 1, and Business Decisions 1), and 2 copies of the manual. I also have about 50 blank program cards, and 4 empty card storage books.

[Sold] I have some old literature from when it was new. I also have the user contributed program catalog that lists all the available programs as of 1977.

In addition, I have a manual and case for an HP32.

I also have 4 full and 1 partial roll of original HP thermal paper.

[sold] I also have some old program sheets and blank program worksheets. It was used by a mechanical engineering professor at UC Berkeley, and I rescued the calculator years ago when it was in the electronics recycling pile.

Make a reasonable offer for any or all of it. I'm clearing out some of my extra stuff before I start residency. I will put it on eBay eventually, but wanted to give this forum first dibs.

I'm glad to ship for actual cost. Can take PayPal. I'm located in Ann Arbor, MI if anyone wants to do local pickup.

That is probably a bad PIK or ROM.

Just curious from another identical reported keyboard problem, does the BST key work?

Might I ask if you know how the printer rollers were repaired.

cheers

That post was mine, so it's the same calculator. I will put it back together and then see what that does. I'm curious, would be interesting to get the answer even if it's not fixable.

The rollers were repaired with heat shrink around the tires. Ended up having a nice positive feed.

I just realised, and thanks :-)

I've been playing with a 97 replacement CPU board, but is a way off yet.

cheers
