Grapevine's "An Easy Course In..." books
Has anybody compiled a comprehensive list of these, or scanned and archived any of them? I see a few on Amazon and ebay covering various topics and calculators (and at a very wide range of prices). I snagged the 19BII book for about $6 on Amazon, but I'd like to find out if there are any other lesser known ones that are worth keeping an eye out for. And if any of them are available as PDFs, that would be great too.

RE: Grapevine's "An Easy Course In..." books
I can only help with a list of Grapevine books. Look here. Enter 'Grapevine' in field 'Verlag' (publisher) and press 'Suchen' (search). My HP bibliography is by far not comprehensive. When I stumble across related books I take a note, and from time to time, I update the database (if anybody has additions please let me know).

I've got a few of those Grapevine books but never scanned them.

Pretty sure two of them are scanned on the USB drive (Museum Document Sets (Version 8.0)):

An Easy Course In Programming the HP-11C and HP-15C
An Easy Course In Programming the HP-41C

Thanks, there's quite a few there I hadn't come across yet.

There are a lot of 'Coffin's in that list (well, 3). I think I first encountered that surname when reading Moby Dick.

RE: Grapevine's "An Easy Course In..." books
Dan and Chris Coffin, brothers, worked for HP, I believe as contractors but possibly as employees, in the 80's writing manuals for various calculator products. Ted Wadman was an HP employee, also involved with manual writing (and possibly testing?) and you can also find his name as Technical Editor for later issues of HP's Key Notes.

While at Sharp in the 90's we contracted with Ted and Chris (IIRC, possibly Dan, possibly both) to write some of the manuals for IC application cards for the Wizard PDA products; they worked for (started?) a company called Terra Pacific, which was still operating as late as 2000, but I lost track of them after that. Nice guys.

RE: Grapevine's "An Easy Course In..." books
Wow, there's a ton of them.

Is the reason that more of Grapevine's books aren't available as PDFs anything to do with copyright, or more that the books haven't had the chance to end up in the hands of people with the time/equipment/interest in scanning them?

Depending on the size/binding of the 19BII book (I don't think this one is spiral-bound) and suitability of my scanning equipment, I might make an attempt at scanning it. A lot of what's in there should also apply to the 17B(/II/II+) and HP Calc application on the palmtops, and probably the 27S to some extent.

Ted Wadman was also Technical Editor of the HP Key Notes toward the end of its run.

RE: Grapevine's "An Easy Course In..." books
I have many of these, and used to have more. Other than the HP manuals, these are among the most useful/easy to read resources available for several calculator models (17bii, 42s, 15c, 41c, 12c, and a series on the 48G [programming, algebra, pre-calculus, graphics] . Cleverly written, thoughtfully illustrated, and overall an excellent resource.
