RE: Black Screen 48 models
I actually have 2 of them which are both ID910 and 10 serial numbers apart. Both are from an ex-HP employee here in Melbourne, Australia.

The cases are perfectly sealed with no marks to suggest they have been opened. The ex-HP employee I got them from didn't mention anything about repairs and he had some other HP calculators that were faulty (eg Pioneer series that need to be pressed under the display for the keyboard to work).

From the videos I have seen, opening a 48 is a major undertaking and leaves marks and although they click back together they are not sealed like a new one as the rivets have been removed. There is no movement between the halves. The 2 I have are in excellent condition which makes me think they are original black screen 48GX.

The first 'real ones' I've seen are from 2001 onwards.
