RE: These exact clones of vintage HP calcs are on my Android phone...
I want to add that Olivier has never ever released an app that was not fully working on almost all Android versions *that existed at the time of release*. If Google was working properly, there should be full compatibility with newer versions of Android. Unfortunately that is not the case, and Google keeps breaking compatilbity with every new release. Furthermore there is a large number of different devices, with different sizes and resolutions, and you just can't predict a graphical behaviour on all of them...

The thing is, by the time Android 7 came, Olivier had other things to do in his life. Furthermore he did not have anymore access to a proper development environment, with Android tools licences and versions issues. But he is now back in business, and we shall welcome him back with flowers, not tomatoes ! I know he is a perfectionist and will make things right.

Because I am nice with him and am his favorite beta-tester, I am now playing with early versions of long overdue emulators: go32sii and go19bii ! But that's only for my eyes for now Tongue

I agree that Olivier's emulators are excellent; I am very happy with the 49GP/50G one I bought.

Would you please ask: what does Olivier prefer as the route to report issues, ask questions, etc? Email, Play Store review, here, etc?

thank you.

I'm using Oliver's GO27S on my phone, & love it.
Is it at all possible to change the 'look' of the calculator to make it more realistic, just like the PC version?

Kind Regards,
Robin

I think only Olivier can answer this question.

He has the name Oulan in this forum, you can PM or simply email him.

Cheers

Sure, I did it with all the emulators I bought from Olivier, even the LCD colors can be changed, but it involves quite some hacking, of course. That's all I can say, because further dwelling on this topic might very well not be in keeping with the forum rules.

Almost all of these clones after following the Link are Android Tablet based. Is there a similar list for iOS instead?

I do have a HP 50g though, and I wonder if that can be used to receive ROM dumps? I also have an Arduino based "Red Eye" to USB serial converter which I may be able to use to receive the ROM dumps straight from the HP-42S or HP-27S to the PC after a bit of experimentation.

The images in this page might be of interest to you. Don't ask questions; just think and experiment...

If you right-click and "save as" then the file name tells you which calc each image is for - I assume you've already spotted this - and what you really want to know is the data encoding used in PNG?

Yes, I got that far, I just don't know what to do with the png, I tried the naivest approach of directly renaming them but it seems more complex than that...

**Edit - somebody definitively more clever than me pointed me the way already!

It reminds me "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky and recorded by ELP.

Amazing songwriting.
