HP-35 Battery Door Repair or Replace
I've broken one of the two plastic slider tabs that fasten the battery door shut on my late production HP-35 calculator. Would anyone be willing to part with a battery compartment door with working tabs or just one of the plastic tabs with the foot attached? Please and thank you.

You can get a 3D printed replacement here

https://www.shapeways.com/product/4LTRMC...arketplace

The seller also has the battery door as well.

Who decides?

As there items are are "printed" they are not as strong as the original moulded ones. Be careful fitting the latches. I bent one slightly when fitting it into the battery door and it broke in half more easily than I would have thought.

Still, they are very good and worthwhile replacements.

cheers

I ordered Qty 1 of this item: https://www.shapeways.com/product/4LTRMC...tery-latch

The price is $16.09 plus shipping. There are six pictured. I'm wondering if I will get one single latch or one set of six as shown. Mark/Tony, how many did you get when you ordered?

The ones I have came with a HP-45 calculator from Harald which was invaluable in getting the Classic replacement board working.

cheers

Well hot-diggety-dog. I'll be happier than Navin Johnson when the new phone books arrived. :-)

This is great... But I don't fully grok it. My '35 latches are present, but broken. They don't hold onto the compartment door very well, but do work to some degree. Will these replacements be an improvement? Cuz to me, it looks like they'll be no better than what I currently have. thx

It's very likely that yours are broken. There is a small tab on the far 'outside' edge of the slider that very often snaps off. The slider is still retained in the slot, and still slides, but there is not enough 'length' left to fully catch under the edges of the 2 sides. The new ones are about 4mm longer, with that extra portion still intact.

And don't toss out the old ones, you'll need to move the small rubber feet to the new tabs.

Well...plastic bits have come off. Yeah...one of the latches does not extend beyond the foot. The other does. Both feet can "swing out" from the battery cover plane when it's removed.
