I'd say this depends on the definition of "not reall anything". ;-)

LBL 01
PSE
FS? 47
BEEP
GTO 01

Run the program and press just the shift key during the pause.

RE: HP-41C List of "over 130 functions"?
I'm also intrigued by other "official" calculator descriptions:

HP 35s -- "Over 100 built-in functions." Is this 101, 105, 463, what? And how are these delineated?

HP 50g (and 48g, 49g etc). "Over 2300 functions" Same question, multiplied by 23.

HP Prime. No number given at all. I suppose this is because major software updates have recently added substantially to the number, but it would still be worth knowing.

Presumably TI machines have the same problem. Compared to say, the Casio 115EX, how many functions does the TI-36X Pro have?

I would maintain that the shift key does not actually do anything for the user (required to be a function). In the example program you provided, the BEEP function does something, the FS? function does something, the GTO function does something, but the shift key is nothing more than any other button on the calculator. The buttons on the calc are not functions. Pressing them may cause a function to be executed, but they themselves are not functions. The shift key is a button that normally has no function behind it.
