Dave,

thank you for the offer. I have discovered that the screen was not damaged - there was only a lot of dirt behind the glass pane in front of the LCD screen. Following the Service Manual for the Portable Plus I was able to remove and clean the glass and now the display looks fine.
Now I only have to get rid of a RAM error on this machine...or find a replacement CPU board.
