I believe you cannot define your function that way (as you displayed in step 3), because you are defining a CAS function in terms of the built-in variable Ans.

Instead, try in CAS

f(x):= x + x^3/3 + . . .

Then, in Function App, enter f(X) in the F1 field.

Does it still freeze?
