I'd not be surprised if the school exam invigilators (etc) impose their own rules, at least for any calculators not on an official list, to make it easier for them to manage in practice.
I have fond memories of my Casio calcs in school, and since. It's only recently that I've discovered the joys of RPN, and of HP. It's interesting that the Casio approach was (then, before VPAM, natural, textbook et al display methods) a mixture of infix and postfix operators, e.g π ÷ 2 = sin which seemed perfectly natural at the time, but seems oddly inconsistent now.
