I tried to understand the code in the .SRC file... but without success. So I would like to ask if you could provide the algorithm in a different (more readable) way. I did some tests on the 12C and some cases seem to work – while others don't.

Instead of reading RPL code, it might be easier to read Python fractions.py, function limit_denominator.
On my machine, it is located at c:\python\lib\fractions.py
