It's possible the keyboard is the issue.

Try pressing firmly (but not hard) in the area between the keyboard and display when you press the [ON] key. If it comes on, it's likely other keys in the same column behave the same.

This can occur when the contacts inside the case don't make good contact; pressing that area temporarily holds the contacts in place.

The good news is this can be fixed. Check and let us know if this makes any difference.
