Fun little math problem

Fun little math problem
I was at a high school reunion this weekend and former teacher of mine gave me this little gem. It isn't hard to solve, but it's interesting that there is exactly one solution.

Find two positive numbers such that:
  1. Adding them produces the same number as multiplying them
  2. Subtracting them produces the same number as dividing them (although a different number from above)
  3. Their difference is less than 1.
