The cable has 34 wires, so that would make it a floppy connector.

A search of the WEB indicates that Sharp did make an external floppy drive for the PC-3000/3100, but I couldn't find any photos of it or the interface cable.


Okay, found it - The floppy drive was CE-301F. Following is link to some photos - but doesn't look like your cable:

This looks like it may have been an early Eng. prototype to validate the special new connector on the PC-3000 itslef, using an off the shelf drive. Production then switched to the pretty one in Bill's photos.

I was at Sharp at the time, but not in the PC group. Oddly, seeing the part number CE-301F actually brought pangs of "...yeah, that sounds familiar..."
