I had an FX4000P - prior to that I'd made do with an FX450 (which I still have) but had always lusted over the FX602P which a friend at school (clearly with richer parents than me) had.
Anyway, on paper the 4000P looked to be a good choice but I was immediately disappointed: Casio had changed the programming language and in doing so crippled the print function. In the 602P you can terminate a print statement with a semi-colon (iirc) and the next thing to print continues on the same line - very useful for building up output such as calculating and displaying a continued fraction. The 4000P's print statement always starts a new line - making it nearly useless. I have to say, I have a fondness for Casio's - trying to fit a function into 37 steps in one of the early programmables was always a fun challenge. But that 4000P still rankles. :-) |
