The HP11C still a reference for low power devices
Interesting, the HP-11C is still a reference in the electronic community for low power devices:
General Versus Specific Computing Devices (there is a mention to this HP Museum...) The point of the author that the HP11C was based on a MCU (micro-controller unit) rather than a general purpose MPU (micro-processor unit) is questionable, since the original design was using a separated CPU and an external RAM/ROM/display circuit. Only on the last versions was the HP-11C using a single chip with CPU/RAM/ROM/display that can be considered as a micro-controller, according to this page by Eric Smith. J-F |
