How to rearrange app icons

Hello, i remember beeing able to rearrange the app icons by a long press/touch and then moving them. For some reason i cannot get it to work now. Was this disabled in a firmware update or do I have to enable a special setting?

EDIT: So I reflashed a backup, it worked with that. After that I flashed the new version again, which works now too.
This is a little weird for me. The touchscreen worked in all cases, I am using the G1 version.
