This is great work, Namir. The Spouge approximation isn't quite as good as the related Lanczos approximation for for the same number of terms in the series, but it is much easier to program, especially on a calculator as the coefficients are simpler.
Les P.S. I have used JMB's GAM+ program in the "old" program listings as my Gamma of choice for years. Will be interesting to see if this performs as well. Jean-Michel used the first few terms of standard Stirling series, cleverly factored Horner-style to save steps, IIRC. He also stuck to synthetic registers. |
