Thanks for the link. Yes, I checked them already.

At the moment I would decide for the half flex board solution. The advantage is, that you can leave the other half of the original flex cable connected to the power supply, this part is never corroded, and attach the new cable by soldering only three contacts. This is much easier than unsoldering the old cable and then solder the new one.

Battery contacts will arrive in the next days, then I can test whether AA batteries will fit.
