Thank you, I know what a parallel port is. I started using computers in the '70s before USB was invented so I've hooked up enough parallel printers and built enough hardware to connect to a parallel port in my time!

My bad! I read it as, "There is no such thing AS parallel ports" instead of "There is no such thing FOR parallel ports"

That makes all the difference in the world! I, too, have been using computers a while ever since I built a logic trainer out of an Intel 4004. I also bought the parts for a Mark-8 (Intel 8008) but I never did get to build it. Before I could, some guy in Albuquerque, NM came out with a practically empty box built around an Intel 8080A that cost less than the CPU chip alone! I just HAD to get that Altair 8800.
